Speilberg brings to life,Tintin , the inquisitive young reporter who has a knack of getting into adventures that take him all around the globe. While Tintin continue to entertain children in the ink and paper format, here he comes in the 3D avatar!

The Belgian cartoonist Herge’s (Georges Re’mi) character was first published in 1929.The series include 24 stories which have been translated to over 80 languages and have been adapted for radio, theatre and film. In this movie, the original version of Herge’s The Adventures of Tintin: the Secret of the Unicorn, has been fused with The Adventures of Tintin: The crab with the Golden claws, so that Tintin and Captain Haddock gets to meet for the first time.

When Tintin acquires a model of a three masted ship called The Unicorn from a street peddler, he doesn’t realise that the adventure has already begun. The story follows the hunt for slips of parchments hidden in the Unicorn, which the nefarious Mr Sakharain is after. It takes the story from a little European town that Tintin lives in, to a ship sailing to Karaboudjan, (where he befriends the drunken Captain Haddock), to the fictional Moroccan port of Bagghar and back, where Tintin and Captain Haddock solves the clues in the parchments to find the Haddock family treasure.

The screen play written by Steven Moffat, Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish succeeds in conveying to the audience the characteristics of each of Herge’s characters. Haddock’s love for liquor, the goof ups of Thomson and Thompson, Snowy’s antics- are all portrayed well.

The movie used Motion capture technique, where real people’s movements would be given to the 3D characters tomake them seem as realistic as possible. But some hardcore Herge’ cartoon fans are of the opinion that thecomputer graphics have failed to capture Tintin as he was in the comic, despite Jamie Bell’s best efforts. But CaptainHaddock and Snowy have succeeded in winning almost all the viewers’ hearts.

The animation work has been exceptionally good in certain sequences, especially the jeep chase sequence, which was a single shot. The movie gives the audience a wonderful adventure experience of the Herge’ style and makes one want to wait for Tin Tin’s next Adventure on the silver screen.
